Abstract
The development of reading literacy is considered one of the priorities of modern education. Reading literacy includes not only the ability to understand the read text, but also to critically analyze it, draw conclusions and apply the knowledge gained in practice. The ability to work effectively with information, depending on the conditions of development of society, has become an important skill of the 21st century. The aim of the study is to identify the most effective methods of developing reading literacy in 5th grade students through narrative texts. The article presents the theoretical foundations and practical recommendations for the implementation of this method in the educational process. The main attention is paid to the analysis of pedagogical techniques that contribute to the effective development of reading literacy and increase the level of educational achievements of students. The presentation of the text as a method allows not only to assimilate the content of the material read, but also to develop information structuring skills, which contributes to better memorization and understanding of what is read. The article provides various ways of working with text, for example, asking questions about the text, writing creative works, etc. The results of the study show that the introduction of the proposed methods significantly increases the level of students' reading literacy. Students applying the proposed methods demonstrate high results in all academic subjects and develop critical thinking and analysis skills.Thus, the development of reading literacy through narrative texts is an effective method that contributes to the formation of reading skills necessary for successful learning and adaptation in modern society.
